Aladdins Couloir
|
Orienteering: From the top lift, traverse round the mountain initially in a westerly direction keeping as much height as possible as it contours round towards the south. This should take you over the saddle at the top of Coire Cas and then head SSW along the ridge above Coire an Sneachda. Follow this round to the high point where the couloir heads down NNE then dog legs back NNW. |

Season: Whole winter and often into early summer. |
Vertical drop: 200 m |
|
How´s the skiing: Can have a huge cornice at skiers right, but is usually easily enterened at the left. Narrows at the dog leg, where there is often ice. Slow down for this and for climbers coming up the gully as it is often used by novice climbers (Who often think we shouldn't be on it for some reason) At the bottom depending on cover it is possible to ski back into the ski area by heading directly North. It must be stressed this is a map and compass area as if the weather closes in you will get lost and many people have perished here. |
